Explosions All Around Me

What's even going on?

If you asked me right now, I'd have no idea.
My weekends are starting to just become whirlwinds of emotions separated by music, people staring into your eyes, frantic and desperate hugs, traveling, unhealthy snacks, and noisy explosions.
Simulated by yours truly, either scaring the crap out of people or making them more confused. The watermelon might be the best thing to see explode in slow motion
Yeah.
And while March is usually a bad month for me (I get tired of winter and the delay of spring, of testing, and basically of most people), it's starting out well.
I'm going to be missing more school, but that's okay.
I'll get to travel more, which is okay.
I get to do what I love, which is okay.
And I get to be with the people I love, which is the best.

So maybe life is just one big explosion. Chaotic, out of control, dangerous.
But it the same way exhilarating and frighteningly beautiful.
Ponder that for a bit, okay?

CATCHING FIRE!

GUYS I JUST SAW CATCHING FIRE AND GOOD THING I DIDN'T CATCH ON FIRE BECAUSE THE TENSION WAS SO FREAKING THICK IT WOULD TAKE THE SHARPEST OF BUTCHER KNIVES OT CUT THROUGH IT.
Man, it was soooo intense.
After the end of the last scene when the Catching Fire symbol comes up and the credits start to roll, one kid in  the audience went "OH SHIT," and that basically summed up the whole movie.
We applauded this magnificent child.
So please go see it. Do it. It's much better than the first one.
Even though I was still cracking jokes throughout most of it. But that's how I was trying to cope with THE TENSION.
P.S Sorry for the swearing, but it is a direct quote and there is no word perfect enough to capture that moment.
But seriously. Run. As. Fast. As. You. Can.

Black Hole

I don't know if I've said it before on this blog, but I know I have told my friends and some of my family that I have a black hole that follows me. Except I never know where it is. But it sucks up important things and spits them out (usually after the time I need them) like my turquoise ring, my long, knee-high socks, my War-Heads stash, my umbrella, and my lemon flavored mouth guard. I have lost all these things for around a couple a months, and then POOF! Out of no where they appear, and of course it doesn't matter as much since I have gotten past the time where I needed them.
But this time it  has switched two items, and I need one back.
My cat, Marvin, has disappeared, leaving our house about a week or two ago and not coming back. I'm pretty sure he's with another family since he's pretty friendly, but then something happened on Saturday to make me think otherwise.
I was digging in the back of my closet trying to find a bag, and as I saw it and grabbed it, I heard something plunk out. Something very familiar. Something that had fallen out of many of my bags and down steps and out of cars.
Guys, it was my phone.
AND I FREAKED OUT!
Naturally, I chucked it back in the closet and ran away, and when  I was sitting on the bus later that morning, I realized why it had appeared.
The universe had made a trade.
After all my pleas for the return of my phone, it finally answered, but took an unwilling victim (MARVIN McNUT) in my phone's place. And so I want to trade again.
But I don't think that is going to happen.
Don't black holes just suck?
Probably the drawing I am most proud of besides my ghost pickle.

Babushka

I have a babushka voice. It is a mix of a loving but sort of stern grandmother, an accent that really could pass for a couple of different countries, and it is one of my favorite things right now. I sometimes wear my special scarf that finishes the babushka look, and then I am completely happy, and I become this babushka character.
I needed to do a speech for this weekend, and when I saw this, I fell in love.  I looked for other speeches anyway, but from the minute I finished this Ted Talk I knew I was sold, and now I am doing it. I didn't even know it was about babushkas until I watched it.
But if you care to watch, it is really interesting and it makes you wonder more about the perseverance of people.
So here.
What did you think? Could you do what they did even knowing the fact that it will kill you?

Stains

They tell a story. The red lipstick mark on my hand, from wiping it off my mouth when I thought I applied it horribly. The darker soda stain on the carpet from that party where you had that awesome dance off. The nail polish on the seat in your car from the summer when you were bored and jumped in, ready to go anywhere.
They may be ugly, but there are amazing stories behind them.
But I can't remember how I got coffee stains all over the notes by the computer.

What's next?

There are some things that I just can't understand to their fullest capacity. Like how there is so much music in the world and it is basically all original in its own way. Or how the funny story I made up yesterday will soon be lost in the depths of my mind, and I'll never remember it again. How people are each so different, how memories are perceived in a unique way by separate people, and realizing the people that you care the most about now will disappear sometime in your life, moving away from you or forgetting you, or maybe you'll be the one to disappear first.
It's all so crazy and weird and great and so hard to really take in.
So this is what I wrote late last night, when everything seems to take on a different form, and you really have the time to think alone in silence, by yourself, right before you drift off to sleep.
I realize that I will never truly know all the answers, no matter if I want to, and I kind of accept it.
So this post was weird too, and maybe more about the feelz, but it felt good just to write it.
The end.

How Do You Get An Invisible Eyelash Out of Your Eye?

I've had one for two weeks and it is starting to get ANNOYING!
Speaking of eyelashes, I was at Wal-Mart and saw these feathered fake eyelashes that I know on me would get stuck together and I would walk around the party derping and not being able to see and being like "I'M A BIRD!".
Yep.

I Could...

... be studying for a chemistry test, but instead I chose to do this!

This Video...

This is how I act on a regular basis. I wish I actually had this outfit, because I'd probably do the same thing.
I hope that you too, can be so inspired by your clothing that you make a video like this one. I shall join you on your quest.

This Video Made Me Laugh

I don't know how I got to this video, but it made me happy (and also sort of sad).
"Don't pretend to know about stuff that you have never heard of before because it will catch up with you" is what I guess is the message.
Also, I know that I haven't been writing as many detailed posts as I usually do, and this is because I'm a bit busy with school and extra-curriculars and life. But hopefully I can get ahead of everything and get back to my regular post length. So whooohooo!
Have a good one.

Just Being

"It's often just enough to be with someone. I don't need to touch them. Not even talk. A feeling passes between you both. You're not alone."
-Marilyn Monroe

Sometimes I'm just sitting on the bus with a friend, too tired to do anything in the morning. Sometimes I'm just quiet in class, but I'm around some of my friends. I can go to a restaurant and get a coffee with a relative and just relax, and we don't have to speak. I just like being with people, and even though I don't always want to socialize or be my outgoing self, I can sit in a crowd, on the subway, in orchestra, and just enjoy the fact that I'm around people who care about something.
I just wanted to share for today.
YAAAAAY SHARING MEANS CARING!
Okay, I got to go.

I'm A Bit Agressive

Hey, kids. It's talk-about-my-life-time.
I'm sort if aggressive. Not in the way that you say something behind my back and I'll push you to the ground, but more like I'm so excited and intrigued by almost everything that I end up being over the top.
And while this is a good thing, it can also be bad.
For some reason, in most sports I'm not aggressive at all. But in fencing, I want to win and please my coaches, and I'm excited about learning new tricks to become better. In forensics it's sort of the same thing.
One time, I said "popple" instead of paper in finals. I was so mad at myself that I let my team mate and coaches down that I aggressively sulked about it and felt horrible for the rest of the day. Then there was a fire and we had to leave the building, so it left my mind for a few hours. AND THEN WE WON FIRST, and then I sort of forgot about it.
When I see people I know and love, I will sprint over to them and jump up and down and use my whole body to express how happy I am to see them, instead of using a smile or a simple, "Hey."
I guess the aggressiveness is more like excitement, but it is so extreme and in your face that it either freaks the heck out of people or sort of draws them towards me.
If I had to do debates often in class or even forensics, I think I would explode because I would not be able to keep all my arguments and statements inside of me before I talked out of turn.
I just want to do all the things that make me happy in the best possible way.
So yeah, I like share-care time. Maybe you feel like this? Maybe not.

Be Real

Okay, this is going to be a rage post so here it goes.
Something that bothers me are the people who don't act who they are. They go with what the people higher than them like, and end up doing what they do, dressing how they dress, basically try to walk the walk the talk and the talk. And I get it if you are a little confused about who you are. Everyone is a little bit poser sometimes, to paraphrase Hip-Hop of MyMusic.
But when you just copy someone almost exactly because you are afraid of showing your true self, that isn't right. Be a good person. Show your real self to people, and in the end, you'll get more respect as long as you are decent and respectful and don't try to use other people. If you love wearing huge sweaters, and the "cool kids" criticize you for it, why should you sacrifice something you love and is part of you for the opinion of other people? You shouldn't. Keep wearing those sweaters and feeling great. Have confidence. Fake it 'til you make.
Really, all I was trying to say, even though it came out a bit weird, is to be yourself and be proud. And don't copy other people, their outfits, their work, or their ideas. 'Cause that is just plain wrong.
End of story.

My Cat Sat on A Snake (A Very True Story)

Yesterday, my cat Marvin was frolicking outside. He had caught some rodent type animal and ate it, and came to me for approval, to which I patted him awkwardly on the head and said, "Good job." Later, as I was doing my summer assignments on the driveway, I saw him running towards me with something stringy in his mouth. As I got closer, I realized it was a snake, and proceeded to yell, "MARVIN, PUT IT DOWN! WE DON'T EAT SNAKES! THEY ARE OUR FRIENDS!" He dropped it in confusion, and as it tried to slither away unnoticed, he found it again and started batting at it, keeping it held down under one paw. I tried to distract him by moving a stick in the grass, which sort of worked, but in the process he sat on top of the snake.
I wasn't sure of what to do at this point, so I sort of watched this unfold.
Eventually, my other cat Buster came to investigate, and as Marvin got up, the snake was freed.
And it was mad.
[Before we go any further with this story, I would like you to know I identified this snake as non-poisonous in the beginning, and I knew it could fend for itself, so this is why I didn't try to intervene. This was a life experience for Marvin.]
It reared its head and struck near Marvin's paw. He was confused, and being the slightly stupid cat (he's young, we forgive him) he is, he paused, and then reacted.
He smacked the snake on the head.
This is resulted in a basic boxing match between snake and cat, with the snake continuing to strike and Marvin continuing to smack it.
Eventually, Marvin sat on top of it again, and it got away somehow.
So that was the most random event that I have experienced in the last month.

I Tried to Break a World Record Once

Don't know about you, but when I was in elementary school and middle school, the book that everybody cared about was the Guinness World Records. Every year the new edition would come out, and all the kids would flock to the library to check it out and ooh and ahh over the biggest snowman or the most piercings on one face during any free time they had.
One time I decided to try to break a world record. I looked and looked for one that I thought was easy enough to beat, but I couldn't find one. Then I realized that you could make one up and then you could get in the book (or at least that's what I thought).
At the time I had just learned how to play Scrabble, and I decided to use that as the base of my record. So I decided to have the record for most photographs for completed Scrabble games.
And at first I was really excited. I would play just to get the picture, and I would giggle at the number I had (this is in fifth grade, don't judge). But then I realized that a.) how was I going to prove I actually played all these games and b.) some of the words probably wouldn't have passed actual Scrabble rules. So at the ripe age of 11, I stopped.
I think I had like 63 photos.
Anyways, it was pretty fun while it lasted. I've been posting pretty regularly which I'm super proud of. Shout out to Canada from where there was a surge of views on Saturday! Not sure why, but oh well.

22 Hours of Suffering (on a sailboat)

Hey everybody.
So I know my last post was sort of a story, so I decided to tell another one in this post.
Except it's sort of sad. More like pathetic.
But it'll all be okay because, hey, things work out.
So my tale begins.....
The Story of How I REALLY Had to Pee but I Held it for 22 Hours (on a sailboat)
Once upon a time, I was on a sailboat. I was learning how to sail, and it was really fun, with it not being a crazy windy day, or one without wind.

The sun was shining, there was an abundance of Fudge Crème Oreos, and everyone was talking and joking.
This was what I remember before having to pee.
But I played cool, because like any girl worth her salt, I can hold it. So I did.

Once we got to land, we had to hike a bit to get to the place where we were going to camp outside. It was pretty cool, with everybody squished together for warmth (and lack of space), and we had burgers (a veggie burger in my case), and everybody was happy.
Except I had to pee.
There weren't any bathrooms, so you were left with a shovel and told to go find a spot far away. But I can't make myself pee in the woods. It's something I just can't do, and I'm not squeamish or afraid of spiders, snakes, or the outdoors or anything.
So I held it until morning.

And I still had to pee.
So we had breakfast milk cartons (which were covered by slugs that had mysteriously appeared with the dew), and  we hiked back down to our boats, wading into the water to set them off.

I HAD TO PEE!
But I didn't because 1) Peeing in a lake is illegal (this is basically the underlying PSA I am leaving you with) and 2) I couldn't make myself do it. So I waited.
I ended up waiting six more hours because the wind wouldn't pick up.

I later learned that you can die (some lady actually has in a contest) if you hold it too long.
So moral of the story:
Don't hold your pee. Ever. Find a bathroom and it'll be all good.
I'm glad to share my experience. Okay, quote of the day!

"I am not afraid of death, I just don't want to be there when it happens."
- Woody Allen
Yeah, that is going to be a pain, isn't it?
So live life to your utmost ability, eat Nutella, and always, I MEAN ALWAYS, lick the spoon afterwards.

Or the knife.
