Photos of Myself

When I was going through my Wreck This Journal, I flipped to the page where you put a picture of you that you don't like and you deface. But as I was thinking about what photo to put there, I realized I don't really love any photos of myself.
I could probably count on one hand the number of pictures taken of me recently that I have actually liked.
I usually don't look at pictures that I am in. I will glance at them and smile at everyone else, but then I sort of skip over myself. I know that I'm in it, but I don't really comprehend the whole picture. Maybe this is the reason I don't have a camera except for the crappy one on my phone, and I really don't take selfies (which is basically impossible, again, because of my phone).
By now you are probably thinking I have a bad self image or something. And this isn't really true. I accept myself for who I am and enjoy all the things that make me weird or different or stand out. But of course everyone has their own insecurities, so there are things that I worry about a little bit.  But generally I don't worry or think badly about all of the scars I have, or my round face, or my enormous hands. I take it in stride, along with most of the annoying or crappy things that happen on a weekly basis.
So I guess I attribute the whole photo avoidance thing to something sort of superstition.

(Okay, not that type of superstition. But that was asking to be put in there. Hehehehe. Well, by the little voice in the back of my mind going, "You know you want to..." Anyways back to what I was saying before.)
While people who know me may not think I'm super superstitious (ha, I liked how that sounded, sorry continue reading), I unconsciously sort of am. I'll read horoscopes for fun, then end up following them, even though I try to convince myself that it's not true at all. When I heard that they were building a second Titanic, I sort of lost my mind and tried to convince a bunch of people to never, ever ride on it because surely they would drown. Naming and creating a replica of a ship that sunk and killed so many people is just a beacon of bad luck and not good ju-ju.

So when I see a picture of myself, I feel like I unconsciously feel like there is a little part of my soul or something in those pictures, and that by looking at it I'm giving it over to the photo.
Okay, I actually have no idea what I'm unconsciously thinking (that's why its unconscious) but I'm just trying to give an idea to something I can't really put into words.
Oh well, I tried.
So this was sort of a feelz post, but it felt good to write it down anyways.
But now I want to write something funny to relieve all this tension. Hmmmm...
FLAGELLA!
Nope that didn't work. Well, I gots to go do some homework and write a speech, so I'll catch you on the other side of the next post my brain decides to vomit out an idea for.
P.S Now I'm listening to Superstition. Thanks Stevie Wonder for working your way into my brain...

Working on Wreck This Journal

I finally have had some down time to work on it again (even though I should be working on school projects).
The problem is that once I start wrecking, I get kind of obsessed and do around ten pages at a time until I finish them, and then I taper off after a day and forget about it.
So this is the cycle that my work has fallen into, and by tomorrow I'll be back at school and will forget about the whole book until Christmas break.
Probably.
But for now, I'll show you one of the pages that I think I'm basically finished with. I did it late last night, because that is the best time of day for destroying your journal for some reason. Perhaps it's because its dark and you turn up your music loud (on your headphones) and you just finished a jar of Nutella and everything is working out in the world.
Well, you know, for me at least.
So here's the page!

P.S I was really twitchy when writing this post so sorry if the words sound funny. I look back on this and don't think that the order and flow was superb.

I'M BACK, BABY (Well not for long)

Whoo, this post is actually going to appear at the time I finish writing it!
It's nice to be back again, even though I had a lot of fun while I was away. I ate gummy bears, preformed a bit, and played A LOT of cards (Black Jack, Mal, Crazy Eights (for points), BS, Rummy, and 31 Knock (which I call something different, but this one girl randomly screamed "KWANZI!" while playing, so that is what we ended up calling it.)
I painted houses and buildings a lot, played a game in an abandoned school, had a mini photo shoot in a bamboo forest, and sent a dead fish (I named him Swimmy) down the river in the traditional Viking funeral way (except we couldn't light it on fire so we just hummed funeral tunes and Taps).
But I'm leaving again.
Yep, it's back on the road for me. Actually, I was reading On The Road for the majority of the ELEVEN HOUR DRIVE, just for one way.

But anyways, I'm pressed for time, so I might not write something for every day I'm gone. Or maybe I will...
Anyways, I'll have to think of something.
Just wanted  to let y'all know my status and stuff. And basically I like writing to myself.
Yep.
Oooh, you have to see some of the additions to my Wreck this Journal. These additions magically appeared while I was flopped over like a dead fish and slept on pile of everybody's stuff for two hours after we stopped at a KFC.

But that is for another time.

Derp... (Week of Weirdness #7)

I ran out of ideas. This is the last post I guess for W.o.W. Hope it was fun for everybody.
Alright so for today I decided to share something I do when I need ideas. I start with one word and keep writing the next thing I think of until I have a chain of words. I call these my Word Chains.
So I'll do one right now.
Gumball, dirt, ice, music, red, popsicle, summer, pool, water, fridge, cat, mouse, ladybug, iPod, drinks, biscotti, croissant, Naked Juice, grass, lilies, tomato, space, ice cream, fried chicken, sprinkles, moon, kelp, otter, pine tree, leather, purse, gloves, hat, Slurpee, internet, late, terror!
Yeah that was fun!
I may get back late so there won't be a post for tomorrow, but then I leave again so I might do another Week of Weirdness of something.
Hasta luego.

Bye Bye Birdies.

Soon I'm going to be leaving, and this is the crazy month where posts aren't going to show up super often. I'm still figuring out what I'm going to do to continue to have something on the site, but I haven't really figured that out. Feel free to look through older posts (I enjoy the Mosquito one and the sail boat one especially, along with my gummy worm adventure). Things to do while I'm not posting...
1. Check out the free music on iTunes (new single every week!)
2. Watch Drop Dead Gorgeous on Youtube
3. Buy a Wreck this Journal (and destroy it of course)
4. Read World War Z (or see the movie!)
5. Use the computer drawing/painting program on your computer.
6. Eat Thai food.
7. Climb a mountain and yodel.
8. Create a huge slip and slide with a tarp.
9. Explore your town.
10. Go thrift shopping.
11. Doodle on your Converse.
12. Buy something that you wouldn't usually wear.
13. Call your friend that you haven't talked to in a while.
14. Go to a bookstore and read something there (I recently read The Glass Menagerie)
So I'll check up on all y'all later.

Wreck this Journal (#2)

Hello, (insert name here)!
It'd be July first, and that means than we are in the second month of summer!
Whoo hoo!

The next few weeks are going to be super duper crazy for me since I'm not really going to be able to post, but I'm going to figure something out. Hehehe.

Anyways, I wanted to talk about something in this world that makes me really happy.
Wreck this Journal.
I'm currently on my second one(AND IT'S EXTENDED), and I love using it and coming up with creative ways to destroy it.
Basically, the whole idea of the book is to read the instructions on each page, and follow them.  These instructions tell you how to destroy the journal, but they are just guidelines. It's up to you to use your imagination and creativity to follow each sort of challenge, and it's really fun to do.
The thing is, everyone wrecks it differently.

I've seen pictures of people who make it entirely into an art project, and it becomes something insanely gorgeous while being a pure representation of their own selves. Others destroy it until there is almost nothing left, and for some reason, this is still amazing and beautiful. After I got mine, a lot of my friends got their own, and it was cool to see what happened to them over time. My friend Ariana* was the first to show me it, and that's how I learned about it.
My one friend, Olive,* made hers super colorful, and it was fun to page through and see what she did to each page. My other friend Mitzi* COMPLETELY destroyed hers, and had to carry it around in a plastic bag because it was so sticky.
And I thought that was great.

On the first couple pages, the author (Keri Smith) conveys that this book is a representation of "creative destruction" and that "you may begin to live more recklessly".
That is absolutely true.
For me, I used the book to reach out to people. I still have my first book (I thought I lost it, but I found it recently). It is definitely not one of the prettiest, or the most destroyed. But about 75% of mine was done in collaboration with other people, and that's what I like the most about it. There are names of people inside it, their drawings, their writing, their own creativity. I would ask anyone (during some free time) if they wanted to help me with it, and a lot did. I actually got to know some people better because of it, and we became friends.
So I guess what I'm trying to say is, go get one of these books. Seriously. It is so much fun if you are a teenager, a kid, a young adult, or a adult that is young on the inside. You might just see destruction differently.

Okay, change of subject.
I don't feel like doing quotes anymore, so I'm going to come up with something else to  end the posts with. Also, since I won't be posting for awhile, I might just put gifs up or something and see what happens.
Yeparoo. See you later.
*This name is not theirs. It's theirs in my protective imagination bubble of greatness.
(P.S I like Domo!)
